Volunteer Facilitators

Requirements

You don't need any previous experience to be a Volunteer Facilitator, as you will receive full training and ongoing support from Young TimeBank. You don’t need to be a ‘young person’ yourself either! However, you do need to be:

  • committed to Young TimeBank’s youth-led approach – empowering young people and putting their ideas at the heart of our projects
  • enthusiastic, creative and a good communicator
  • reliable and punctual
  • able to liaise with our contact teacher and, if your project requires it, local community groups or local businesses

You must also:

  • keep in regular contact with Young TimeBank throughout your group's project. (This is a two-way process – we can help you overcome any challenges you face, and you can share with us any ideas or activities that have been a success with your group)
  • play your part in monitoring and evaluating your group's project

In practical terms, we need you to volunteer:

  • two to three hours per week (usually at the same time each week) during school hours
  • for at least one school term (two to three months)
  • at a school or college in any one of the following areas: London (Lambeth, Southwark, Waltham Forest and Westminster) or Manchester.

We are not currently recruiting Volunteer Facilitators. We hope to hold our next facilitators' training in September 09, meanwhile, please click here for a list of other youth volunteering opportunities we think you may be interested in.

Facilitators

It has been great for our students to see that there are always those in the community who will support young people to make a difference. Both Facilitators developed a very positive relationship with the students and encouraged everyone to get involved.
